Molly the Attack Dog!!

So there was quite a ruckus going on tonight and I had to investigate to see what was the matter. Apparently Molly has grown into her protective "shoes" and found her big girl "voice". I was laying down when all Hell broke loose and the dog was barking like we were being invaded! I ran out to see what was the matter and nobody seemed disturbed or even aware of what was going on. It seems that this has happened before...and eventually Molly calms down when she realizes that her enemy and foe cannot get out of the fireplace!
She's been going crazy and barking like a banshee at her own reflection in the glass. There was no calming her down until the reflection goes away...or in other words, she walks away! But the 10lb canine barks like a 100lb vixen on a rampage when provoked!
The sweet thing has finally got a little zest in her that's coming out. The kids are figuring out that they need to put their shoes, coats, and toys away.
Nothing is sacred and no one is spared from her interest. Even Dad's shoe is an easy target when it's left unattended, and it's almost as big as she is.
New trick? Molly likes to roll the carpets up. She thinks it's a game to see how fast she can pull up the sides and burrow herself inside. She runs and leaps like a gazelle and is as fast as a bullet. She's hilarious with her antics and "snatch and run" mentality.
You've heard the phrase: mi casa, su casa..."my house, your house". I think Molly is in the same frame of mind. She doesn't like being left in the hall. She's definitely a "Su bed, mi bed" kind of dog...and she's not happy till she's with her girls.
She likes to come up and lay on her side--wanting you to rub her tummy. She loves to sleep on the registers when warm air is blowing through. Her ears have finally risen to the occasion and they don't droop anymore. She's four and a half months old...and it feels like she's been a part of the family for years.
She likes peanut butter, pupperoni, and coca-cola. (No coke--but that doesn't stop her from asking for one or thinking that she'll like it). She's done with all her shots, been micro chipped, and wears a cute red tag with her name on it. Molly is every one's baby and playmate. She is Cameron's first chest hair, Nathan's most effective dose of "medicine', Braden's chow hound companion, Ashley's wardrobe accessory, and Jessica's dolly.
This entry is dedicated to Nathan--because he keeps asking for pictures of his Molly to fawn over at the hospital. And being that he's checking out the blog everyday to see what few pictures there are of the dog, this will ensure that he has a few more to enjoy :) Love, Mom

Fashionable...Coordinated...and Smart, Too!

We are on the downward spiral towards the end of another school year. Ashley has always been an excellent student...and she is definitely standing out amongst her peers.

She's taking high school Algebra, Honors English, Orchestra, PE, social studies, and science. It tends to be quite the workload at times--but she's nailing it with high marks. Report cards come mailed when you reach the middle school age. So this was a particularly awesome moment for her parents! And along with acing state exams for the last three years--she's well on her way to some scholarship potential.

She also recently took part in the state Solo and Ensemble competition, performing Bach's Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring on the viola. Her judge said that she had some amazing talent that would highly benefit from a private teacher. She told her to memorize the piece she played because it would be one that she would be performing for the rest of her life, at weddings and such.....for money.

You can't see the whole outfit that Ashley is wearing...but it's very classy black and white ensemble. And it is complimented by just what every girl needs--a matching pooch to complete her wardrobe. Molly is definitely enjoying being the baby in the family...and favors Ashley for more than her preference in colors.

Introducing....MOLLY!

Our family grew yesterday with the addition of a cute little puppy. She is an 8 week-old purebred Boston Terrier that we purchased from an elderly couple in Sandpoint, Idaho. She was one of 6 living pups. [There was a seventh, but it was stillborn.]

I took Nathan with me for company on the drive and to hold the puppy on the way home. He didn't know where we were going and I only told him that we were going to pick up something I was getting Dad for Christmas. He didn't question anything until we got to Newport (60 miles or so north of here) and then he asked if we were almost there yet. The joke was on him. He about jumped out of his skin when we got there and the breeder chuckled and said "Looks like some boy is getting a dog today..." Nathan started fist-pumping the air. He didn't realize it was a puppy until we got to the back of the house where they kept the babies with their parents.

All of the puppies were adorable, but we really wanted a female--which narrowed our choice down to just two puppies. One girl slept our whole visit and so we went with the outgoing and social one :)

I'm not an expert by any means, but I think her markings are pretty good. Her coat has a great shine and she's eating puppy chow. And like all puppies, she's cutting her teeth on toys. [Look at that little tail sticking up! So funny to watch her chase that thing and get nowhere!]

She really likes the ball and pull toys that we picked up for her on the way home. I bought a pink harness and leash for her. She's definitely getting comfortable in her new home.

The Christmas tree was an instant hit. She fights with some of the lower branches and likes to hide near the base. It's been more entertainment and fun than we've had in a long time without having a screen to look at.

We named her Molly...and I'm sure that we will come up with a fashionable name to embellish her AKC papers with. Maybe something like Molly the Magnificent...or Eiberts' Molly Mae, or maybe just Miss Molly. I don't know yet. It'll come to me eventually.

She is a tiny little thing that is sure loved a LOT already. Jessica says that she is so sweet and cuddly. All the kids fight over who gets to hold her. I didn't know there was such a thing as taking "turns" holding the dog! I'm concerned that she may forget how to walk with all the holding and snuggling that she is getting.

Jeff is on graveyard this week. He got home from work at 6:30 this morning and I jumped out of bed to go check on the new baby.... I had stayed up till almost 1am with her, making sure that she didn't have a crying melt-down on her first night home. Things were very quiet until our daddy got home. Then it was playtime! She looked like a little jackrabbit bouncing around the room with her ball and toys. I think that she was lonely because she was raring to go while it was still dark out.

We're definitely going to have a Molly Jolly Christmas this year!
