Cutting Back....

Family night at Great Clips. It was a lesson in patience and volume-control, as I had to bypass every one's opinion about how their hair should be cut--short, long on the sides, finger-length, etc., and remind the stylist that I was in charge of payment so the length and style was my choice. The boys could talk all they wanted but she got her "marching orders", and which clipper numbers to use, from me.
The boys were looking shaggy even though it's been less than 2 months since the last escapade to Great Clips. Nathan insisted on getting his hair cut a few days ago...so he was just along for the ride. Braden and Cameron desperately needed to part ways with their sideburns and get ready for the summer heat.
I thought both girls were just getting their bangs trimmed. But things got a little exciting when Ashley said she was ready for a new look and not just bangs.
Her hair was very long. You couldn't tell very often because she rarely left it down and usually kept it in a ponytail. She has donated long hanks to the Locks of Love program in the past. Tonight she wanted to make another donation and gave them another healthy foot's worth of hair in two separate ponytails.
The stylist cut the donation parts off and then went to work giving her long layers and a set of sweeping bangs.

She texturized Ashley's hair to get some of the weight out and to let it fall nicely around her face.
She doesn't look like a recent middle-schooler anymore.
Until she opens her mouth...but we won't be seeing those anymore after tomorrow!
Her cut was VERY drastic, and she already loves it!
Before to After. When in doubt, go for the BIG change!
Now sister didn't want to be left out on big changes either.
So what was supposed to be just a trim across the eyebrows, turned into an inverted bob, that kept getting shorter and shorter. The stylist was having a hard time getting her hair to line up. The other stylist had to come help blend in the stack in the back. When it was all done--it kind of looks like a Dorothy Hamill with some bangs. Definitely BIG change for the little one, but very cute on her!

For being such a Blondie, Jessica has very thick hair. They kept hacking away at her back to create the wedge look and it still looked the same, but the pile on the ground was growing. It's the shortest haircut she has ever had and I'm glad she's pleased with it. I think that it's the perfect "do" for summer. [I am kind of sad that her blond curls from a few nights ago are gone.... She came right home and started playing with the rubber bands and bows and showing off several fun looks. It's just hair, and it'll grow back, right?]
The boys looked very handsome after their cuts. But we wouldn't expect anything less as they get hair cut a lot more often than the girlies. There's no such thing as 'cutting back' when you are paying for 7 haircuts, all in the same week. But everyone looks sharp and ready for all the big events coming up. Hair, Hair! It's the one thing that we always seem to be cutting back on.
